Changing the installation of letters after 14 years of faithful service
14 years ago, we completed a project for very large letters – ZONA for Home, installing them on the roof of the building. Now, after so many years of service, it’s time to replace the installation. At that time, the letters were illuminated with LED modules with an OSRAM chip. In those years we imported our LED chips from Osram’s factory and assembled the modules in Bulgaria. It’s time to replace the whole electrical installation. For all these years, the technology has developed very fast and we currently use 4 generations of more advanced LED modules.
The channel letters Zona for Home are produced with a system for making very large channel letters. Their construction is made of solid aluminum profiles with special ribs, reinforcing columns, and supports. This provides extra strength to the letters. All this is done so that the face can be made of vinyl canvas. It is much lighter than acrylic or polycarbonate panels. In addition, it comes on rolls up to 420 cm wide. This way we guarantee that the letters do not have any joints and the so-called “belly” for temperature expansions. The vinyl face with the wrapped translucent film is stretched with a system of clips and always looks smooth and strong.
The handling of the letters involved changing the face and the entire lighting system. We used the latest generation of SloanLED LED modules. We replaced over 1200 boards with 1036 modules. The inscription now shines much brighter thanks to the high light yields of the SloanLED modules.
The advertisement impresses with its size, it is 3 meters high and the width of the inscription is 1200 cm. Due to the fact that most often channel letters with such dimensions are installed in hard-to-reach places, our professionals make them lightweight. Although, their installation was complex and required great care and precision.
New life for the “old” channel letters
When an advertising product is made with quality and stable technology, it can be serviced and renovated over the years. That’s why the letters Zona for Home start their second life with a new 3-year warranty.
How long will it take until the next repair?
Our experience shows that the absolute minimum is 10-12 years. This type of letter installation change is very durable over the years. With much more modern modules, this period can reach 20 years. We don’t know if they will last that long, but we will definitely be there for the next refresh of the channel letters Zona!
